Aggregate / Disaggregate

An Aggregate event documents when multiple discrete product items are physically grouped together, typically for the purposes of shipping or storing. The individual items being aggregated can be identified by both their individual batch number as well as their pallet/container they have been aggregated into. With an aggregation event, there is always the intention of disaggregating the product items again later downstream.

Disaggregate is the exact reverse of Aggregate - where product items are separated back out into the individually traceable products they were prior to being aggregated. Neither of these actions changes the individual properties of the product items, they are simply grouped together and then ungrouped. A Disaggregate event must be preceded by an Aggregate event.

Note

  • Aggregating can be a helpful step before sending multiple items that are grouped together in logistical units, i.e. pallets or containers.
  • Custom data templates are not included for Aggregate and Disaggregate events.

Aggregate product items

1
Navigate to the Products page from Wholechain's left-side menu, and click on the product you are aggregating items of.
2
Using the checkboxes on the left side of Current Inventory table, select the item(s) you wish to aggregate and click Actions > Aggregate.

3
You'll be able to select the quantities of the input items you're aggregating if you want to only aggregate part of an item's quantity, assign the aggregation a logistical unit ID (such as an SSCC), and select the date of the aggregation. Finally, add any optional identifiers per the product settings.

4
Click Log Event, and your aggregation will appear in the Current Inventory list, but will have a "+" icon that you can click to view the contents of the aggregation. Now you can treat the aggregated product just like a single product item and log events with it such as    Ship or Disaggregate

Disaggregate product items

By nature, a Disaggregate event must begin with an aggregated item. As soon as you log a Disaggregate event, each of the original product items will be separated back out into their own individual units, or lines within your inventory, ready for further traceability events.

1

Navigate to the  Products page from Wholechain's left-side menu, and click on the product whose item you'd like to disaggregate.

2

Select the aggregated product you'd like to disaggregate and click  Actions > Disaggregate.

3
You'll be prompted to select a disaggregation date, as well as confirm the unit of measure of the input items you are disaggregating. This is to account for any product UOM changes that may have occurred when sending/receiving the product between trading partners.

4

Click Log Event and you'll see the individual contents of the aggregation appear as their own product items again. You'll see the disaggregate event reflected in the item's Supply Chain Diagram.
