Decommission an item or lot

Decommissioning an item

Decommission is the event type that captures the end of an traceability journey - either because it's been consumed, or must be removed from the supply chain for any number of reasons, such as damage, a defect, or a recall.


  1. Navigate to the Products page from the left-side menu
  2. In the Products page, select the product that has the item or lot you want to decommission
  3. Under Current Inventory, select the item that you want to decommission by checking the box immediately to its left
  4. Once you have selected the item/lot, click on the Actions dropdown menu on the top left corner and select Decommission
  5. You'll be prompted to fill out information regarding the item's decommission
    1. Select the date the item was decommissioned, a reason for decommissioning, and the option to provide a description if any further clarification is needed.
  6. Click Log Event, and the item(s) will automatically relocate to the Decommission / Archive tab in your selected products menu. 

Note: You can decommission part of an item's available quantity or the entire quantity by changing the quantity field in the decommission event drawer.

Note: If you selected multiple items to decommission that were decommissioned on different dates, select the "Multiple Dates" checkbox and add dates for each item.

Note: If you wish to include custom data that is different for each item, use a CSV to upload the data including rows of custom data for every lot.

Note: The item is still visible but cannot be used to log events.
