Event Data Sharing Overview
The privacy level of your traceability data in Wholechain is set at the product level, within each product's settings. All the traceability data in Wholechain ties to event records, and every event is attached to at least one product. Therefore if a product has Restricted data sharing, it means the companies in your network cannot view the event data for the records with which this product is associated.
There are two data sharing preferences you can select from for each product: Open or Restricted. Here's an overview of what each of these settings means:
Open Data Sharing:
If you select Open Data Sharing for a product, it means that you are giving any downstream companies access to the event record data for any event that includes this product. Upstream companies will not be able to view event details beyond their Ship event to your company.
Restricted Data Sharing:
If you select Restricted Data Sharing for a product, it means that the downstream companies in your Network will not have access to the event record details for any event that includes this product, except in the case of a Ship event (see below).
One Exception:
No matter which Data Sharing preference you've set for each product, Ship event record data will always be shared with downstream companies. Since a Ship event, by nature, involves sending product to a company in your Network, that company will always be able to view the Ship event data. Similarly, you'll always be able to access the details of the Ship event record that an upstream company in your Network has sent to you.
