Create a new Template Attribute

Template Attributes are the basis of Custom Data Templates in Wholechain, which allow you to capture unique data at each supply chain event in your product's journey. Wholechain makes it easy to create attributes, after which you can include in any custom templates that you create. Here's how to create a Template Attribute:

  1. Navigate to the Settings page from the top right-hand corner of your dashboard
  2. Click on the Template Attributes tab
  3. Click Add Attribute at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen
    1. The following fields will appear:
      1. Field Attribute: A modal will appear in the middle indicating all the information you'll need to fill in, starting with the Field Attribute. The name you assign to Field Attribute can be anything that would describe the data that the attribute would contain
      2. Data Attribute: This will automatically appear as you type your field attribute, but can be edited. This is how the attribute will be classified in the back-end code generated for your event data
      3. Field Type: There are 6 different Field Types that are available to you in the template creator. All of them allow for a customized field title. You can learn more about Field Types here
      4. Values (optional): This is a default value that you can input to automatically display in this field when logging events with this Template Attribute. This is used to auto-populate templates to help make logging more efficient
  4. Click the Checkmark when you have finished inputting the relevant information. The new Template Attribute will appear under the Template Attributes dropdown when creating a template on your Templates page. You'll be able to add it to any new Custom Data Template that you create.

*Note: There are certain interoperable standards that require very specific Data Attribute values (code). Please connect with a Wholechain representative to discuss your data-collecting needs and to ensure that you are in alignment with these universal standards for your specific supply chain.
