What are Documents?
Documents allow you to upload and store files that you and your supply chain partners want to view, record, and share. The Documents feature allows you to validate information about products, certifications and events throughout your supply chain and Trade Network. You can also request documents from companies in your Network as needed.
Within the Documents page, your documents are categorized as Company or Network documents. Company Documents include the files that you uploaded that apply to your own company. Network Documents include the documents that your partners have uploaded and shared with you, or documents you have uploaded on behalf of a company in your Network. The same documents can also be viewed in the “Documents” tab within a company in your Network's Profile.
Every document you upload into Wholechain will be written to a blockchain (Stellar or Mastercard). Once added, a snapshot of the document will be hashed and logged on the selected blockchain whether you delete the document in Wholechain later or not. Hashing means the document will be associated with a unique code alphanumerical digits, so being written to the blockchain does not actually reveal any of the documents' details.
The following are a few examples of documents you might store in Wholechain:
- Order Documents (Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Forecasts)
- Financial Documents (Invoices, Pricing, Chargebacks)
- Shipping Documents (Bills of lading, Customs forms, Packing lists)
- Certifications (USDA Organic, Non-GMO, Friend of the Sea, Fair Trade)
- Reports (Analytical Reports, Industry Reports, Audits)
- Quality Assurance (Certificates of Analysis, QC Reports, Bills of Material)
