Ship (and receive) to an internal company location

There are three ways to ship items in Wholechain: externally, internally, and via batch ship

Internal Ship and Receive events represent when a product moves internally within your company or organization. This is applicable for companies that are vertically integrated, or that move product between locations while maintaining custody. The product maintains its physical properties with an Internal Ship/Receive event, only the location changes. Locations can be updated in your account settings

Navigate to the Products page on the left-side menu

Select the product whose items you'd like to move between locations

Using the checkboxes on the left-side of the items in the Current Inventory tab, select the items that you'd like to ship internally, and click Actions > Ship

In the grey box at the top of the drawer, you can edit the input quantity and ship date to reflect what was actually dispatched. Select your own company (internal) in the Ship To field, and the destination location.

The option to automatically receive the event will appear. If you wish to have both the Ship and Receive event captured at once, select this check box and input the receive date at the top. If you do not wish to automatically receive the product, leave it unchecked, and the items will appear in your Pending page after you complete the Ship event

If you selected multiple items to ship internally that have different ship dates, select "Multiple Dates" at the top and fill in the date on each line accordingly

If you wish to include any custom data in this event, you can also select a data template at the bottom and attach the data accordingly either manually or via CSV upload

Notes: 

  • When you select "Automatically log Receive event" the logging will take longer because you are technically logging two events in a row - a ship and a receive, and both need to be written to the blockchain. Watch for the notifications that indicate that two events were successfully logged, and do not refresh the page. 
  • If you did NOT automatically log the Receive event, or if you refreshed the page before both events were completed, the product you've shipped will move to your Pending box in the Shipping & Receiving page.
