Location Number/ID

What is a Location ID?

A Location ID is a unique identifier assigned to a location within the Wholechain system. It serves as the internal reference for any physical place, such as warehouses, distribution centers, retail stores, or processing plants. This ID ensures that locations can be uniquely identified and consistently referenced across all traceability operations.

The Location ID is essential for linking events (like aggregations, transfers, or disaggregations) to specific locations in your supply chain, ensuring accurate traceability and streamlined data management.

Why is the Location ID Important?

  1. Uniqueness: Each location is assigned a unique Location ID to prevent ambiguity when referencing specific locations.
  2. Traceability: Location IDs link all events (e.g., shipping, receiving, storage) to a specific place in the supply chain.
  3. Efficiency: The Location ID eliminates the need to repeatedly enter detailed location information, simplifying data input.
  4. Simplified API Operations: When working with the API, only the Location ID is needed to reference a location.
