Setting Up Google Analytics For Sourceview

If you are creating a Google Analytics account for the first time (see instructions for existing accounts below):

Step 1: Create a Google Analytics account

Go to Google Analytics and sign up with your Gmail account. You can create a free Analytics account, just like other Google services.

Step 2: Start the Setup

If this is your first time using Analytics, you’ll see a welcome screen.

Click on "Start measuring" to begin the setup.

Step 3: Set Up Your Account and Property

You'll now be guided through the setup process:

1. Account Name: Enter your company/Account name → Scroll down and click Next

2. Property Name: Enter the brand name (e.g., Chicken of the Sea) → Scroll down and click Next

3. Business Information: Fill in business details → Click Next

4. Business Objectives: Select your goals → Click Create and accept the terms and conditions

5. Now it’s time to set up your data stream. Choose Web as the platform

6. Select https, enter the URL as my.sourceview.co (this stays the same for all brands), and use the brand name as the stream name. Click "Create and Continue".

Your new stream will appear in your list.

Step 4: Get the Google Tag

You’ll now see a confirmation screen. Click Next to proceed.

Your account and property are now set up. To integrate tracking, follow these steps:

1. Click "Get tagging instructions"

2. Scroll down and choose "View tag instructions"

3. Select "Install manually" AND Click the Copy button to copy the Google Tag and send this tag to your Sourceview account manager, who will enter the tag in Sourceview settings.

4. Once entered in Sourceview settings, all QR code scans within this brand will be tracked in the newly created account and property. You will see real-time results right away, and a historical view of tracking data will appear within 24-48 hours.

Start tracking in an existing Google Analytics account:

If you already have a Google Analytics account, go to Admin > Create Account, and follow the steps for setting up your account and property and getting the Google tag as outlined above.

If you want to add another brand to the account > Create new property.
